Updates have been made to the mandatory safety requirements training for installers in the Victorian Energy Upgrades (VEU) program.
Mandatory VEU safety training updates for VU21858, VU21859, CPCCCM201OB and RIIWHS204D
Current requirements
The previously required mandatory safety training (MST) courses (VU21858 and VU21859) were due to expire on 31 December 2020. This applies to activities, 13,14,15,15A, B, C, E, F, G, H,17, 21B.
As part of the regular review and the reaccreditation process it was decided by the training organisation that the two courses could be combined and delivered as one. The new course is VU23706. This will streamline the process and reduce the time and cost of training.
Two working from heights courses have also been updated. CPCCCM201OB has been superseded and is replaced by CPCCCM2012. RIIWH204D has been superseded and is replaced by RIIWHS204E.

Approvals
All new installers must obtain units of competency before they can undertake the activities. Installers are approved for activities by having a certificate of competency from a registered training organisation (RTO) for the relevant units. We require all installers new to the program to have current MST units for each prescribed activity they intend to work in before we approve them as installer. This means that installers participating in the relevant activities must have certificates in the training courses listed in tables 1 or 2 above.
