We are undertaking work to reduce the allowable back-billing period for retail energy customers.
An electricity or gas customer may be back-billed if they have been undercharged on previous bills.
Currently, customers can be back-billed up to nine months by their retailer if they have been undercharged, unless the customer was at fault.
There are no current explicit restrictions on the length

Some electricity sellers are exempt from requiring a retail licence to provide electricity and related services. This includes some suppliers of electricity to embedded networks.
The Victorian Government has asked us to set a maximum price that these electricity sellers can charge embedded network customers (or categories of embedded network customers).
We are currently consulting on how these prices will be formulated.
