Action taken against Renewable Energy Pty Ltd (Re-Energi)
23 October 2025
The commission has taken action against Renewable Energy Pty Ltd (Re-Energi) for allegedly breaching the Victorian Energy Upgrades (VEU) program rules.
Alleged breach
The commission alleges Re-Energi and contractors working on their behalf:
- Made false claims about work undertaken and consumer consent. This included claiming Victorian energy efficiency certificates (certificates) for upgrades that did not occur or did not meet VEU program requirements.
- Engaged in prohibited sales and marketing activity, including illegal doorknocking, high-pressure sales tactics and failing to provide consumers with the required information.
Re-Energi as a VEU accredited business must ensure contractors and the certificates they create comply with the VEU program rules.
Addressing conduct that compromises market integrity is a compliance and enforcement priority of the commission. This includes a focus on businesses that provide false information to the commission about VEU upgrades.
Our decision
We have:
- Suspended Re-Energi’s VEU accreditation for three months.
- Refused registration and ordered the surrender of a total of Ordered the surrender of 28 certificates created by Re-Energi, valued at over $2,500*.
- Required Re-Energi to undertake a compliance audit to assess their compliance with the VEU program rules.
