Review of Victorian Ports Regulation 2009

Under the Port Management Act 1995, the Essential Services Commission is responsible for the economic regulation of shipping channels, berth infrastructure and related port services in Victoria.

In 2009, the Commission conducted a review of prescribed services at the ports. This review considered whether the prescribed services (channel services and berth services) should continue to be subject to price regulation, and if so, what form of price regulation should be adopted. The Port Management Act 1995 requires the Commission to conduct such a review every five years.
