The Essential Services Commission is an independent economic regulator of the Victorian energy, water, local government and transport sectors. We promote the long-term interests of Victorian consumers by reviewing the price, quality and reliability of Victoria’s essential services. Our administration of the Victorian Energy Efficiency Target also helps ensure there are affordable energy efficiency options for consumers and business owners.

Employees at the Commission work towards the development of complex price and economic regulatory reviews, the achievement of key business goals and the provision of expert advice.
The commission participates in the Victorian Public service graduate recruitment and development scheme. This program is a key employment avenue for people establishing careers in economic regulation.
