New greenfield electricity connection standards to support new investment

Energy distributors will be required to set new standards for connecting power to greenfield residential developments under changes aimed at improving efficiency and timeliness.

ReAmped Energy Pty Ltd – electricity retail licence

On 7 August 2020, ReAmped Energy Pty Limited (ACN 605 682 684) applied for a licence to sell electricity by retail under section 18 of the Electricity Industry Act 2000 (Vic).

Consultation on the licence application closed on 4 November 2020. We did not receive any submissions. 

We granted the licence on 9 December 2020.

The licence was revoked at the request of ReAmped Energy Pty Ltd on 11 November 2024.

80 turn out for forum to discuss proposed drop in default electricity price

More than 80 representatives from the energy industry, consumer groups and others met in a virtual public forum today to hear more about a proposed reduction to the state’s electricity default price for 2021.

Winton Asset Co Pty Ltd – electricity generation and sale licence

Winton Asset Co Pty Ltd (as trustee for Winton Asset Trust) (ACN 623 824 288) applied for a licence to generate electricity for supply or sale, and to sell electricity under section 18 of the Electricity Industry Act 2000 (Vic).

The applicant proposed to generation electricity at the Winton solar farm located approximately 25km south-west of Wangaratta in north-central Victoria.

Consultation on the application closed on 29 October 2020.

We granted the licence on 18 November 2020.

Victorians could save on default offer price

Victorian small business and residential customers on a default electricity offer could see their annual bills reduced, under a proposal by the state energy regulator.

SmartestEnergy Australia Pty Ltd – electricity retail licence

SmartestEnergy Australia Pty Ltd (ACN 632 313 029) applied for a licence to sell electricity by retail under section 18 of the Electricity Industry Act 2000 (Vic).

We may grant or refuse to grant the application for any reason we consider appropriate having regard to our objectives under the Electricity Industry Act 2000 (Vic) and the Essential Services Commission Act 2001 (Vic).

Consultation on the licence application closed on 15 September 2020.

We granted the licence on 7 October 2020.
