Retailer of Last Resort (Rolr)

The Electricity Industry Act 2000 and the Gas Industry Act 2001 confer on the Essential Services Commission broad discretion to develop and implement certain features of electricity and gas retailer of last resort (ROLR) schemes, in the event of a failed energy retailer.

These features include the tariffs, terms and conditions upon which customers of the failed retailer would be supplied with electricity and/or gas by the retailer of last resort.

In 2008 the Commission released a final decision on retailer of last resort customer charges.
