VCAT upholds regulator's decision on Goulburn-Murray Water pricing

In June 2024, the Essential Services Commission released its final decision on how much Goulburn-Murray Water can charge its customers for water services from 1 July 2024 to 30 June 2028.

A group of Goulburn-Murray Water customers lodged an application with the Victorian Civil and Administrative Tribunal (VCAT) to review the prices the commission set for taking water directly from natural sources such as rivers or lakes. These are otherwise known as diversion charges.

In April 2026, VCAT delivered its decision which upheld the commission’s Goulburn-Murray Water pricing decision.
