The Essential Services Commission is responsible for determining tariffs for two service areas.
The Commission provides a schedule of the maximum tariffs that can be charged to residents of caravan parks, and site tenants in similar properties, in accordance with the Pricing Rule described in the Victorian Government’s exemption order, effective 1 May 2002.
Under the Electricity Industry Act 2000 (Vic), the Commission is required to determine the minimum electricity feed-in tariff. The Feed-in Tariff is the minimum price per kilowatt hour that electricity retailers must pay customers who are small renewable energy generators (traditionally those with solar panels), for electricity they produce and feed back into the grid. The Commission must determine the minimum feed-in tariff for the following calendar year by 28 February, otherwise the prevailing rate continues.
