We are setting new standards for bills and marketing materials to help customers navigate the energy market more effectively.
Electricity and gas retail markets review implementation 2018 (bills and marketing)
Draft decision7 September 2018
Submissions close5 October
We have released our draft decision on how we propose to implement recommendations 3F-H from the Retail Market Review. These initiatives promote transparency by keeping customers informed of changes that affect their bills and whether they could access a better offer from their retailer. There are four key proposals we are consulting on in our draft decision.
Our draft decision
Retailers have to notify customers on their bill when they have a better offer available, including the amount they could save
Bill change notice
Prior notification of any changes a retailer makes to prices or benefits that impact a customer’s energy bill
Retailers required to use GST-inclusive prices on all their materials
Clear advice entitlement
Clear advice entitlement means that retailers will help customers navigate to a product that best suits their circumstances
Send us your feedback on our draft report
We are seeking input from stakeholders on our draft decision and we would like to hear from all interested parties. Following the consultation period, we will produce a final decision on recommendations 3F-H from the Retail Market Review.
Submissions on the draft decision will close on 5 October 2018.
