On 28 September 2009 the Minister for Finance, Workcover and the Transport Accident Commission determined that the facilities used for grain bulk handling in the ports of Geelong, Melbourne and Portland are no longer 'significant infrastructure facilities'. The effect of this determination is that the regulatory framework previously applying to export grain handling terminals at the ports of Geelong, Melbourne and Portland under the Grain Handling and Storage Act 1995 (GHSA) ceased to apply from 1 October 2009. View notice of determination of the Minister for Finance. The determination was gazetted on 1 October 2009.This follows the Commission's Grain Handling Regulation Review 2008-09, which recommended that the regulation of these facilities cease with effect from 1 October 2009.An undertaking approved by the ACCC now applies to the Geelong and Portland export grain terminals.View ACCC website.
