Accident Towing and Storage Economic Regulation Review

The Essential Services Commission has been issued terms of reference by the Minister for Finance (following consultation with the Minister for Roads) under section 41 of the Essential Services Commission Act 2001 to review the economic regulation of accident towing services in Victoria.

The review is considering both regular and heavy vehicle accident towing, and will consider three key regulation matters: should fees be regulated, the appropriateness of existing boundaries establishing the Melbourne controlled and Geelong self-management areas, and whether accident towing jobs should be allocated or whether operators should be free to compete for towing jobs.
