Alcoa of Australia Limited (ABN 93 004 879 298) applied for a Licence under the Electricity Industry Act 2000 to generate electricity at the Anglesea Power Station, Victoria.
The Commission may grant or refuse to grant a licence for any reason it considers appropriate having regard to its objectives under the Electricity Industry Act 2000 and the Essential Services Commission Act 2001, including the technical capacity and financial viability of the applicant.
The Essential Services Commission (Commission) gives notice under section 30 of the Electricity Industry Act 2000 (Vic) (EIA) that, pursuant to section 19(1) of the EIA, the Commission has approved the grant of a licence to generate electricity at the Anglesea Power Station to Alcoa of Australia Ltd (ABN 93 004 879 298).
On 14 May 2014, the licence was granted on an ongoing basis.
A notice in relation to the application for this licence was placed in The Age newspaper on 21 November 2013. The notice invited submissions by 19 December 2013. The Commission received submissions and considered these submissions in reaching its decision. The Commission has now received a request to view the submissions received. The Commission has decided that, in the interests of transparency, it should publish the submissions.
