Caravan park tariffs

The maximum tariff that a caravan park owner can charge its residents is limited by the ‘standing offer’ tariffs that a licensed electricity retailer charges its customers.

Standing offer tariffs apply to customers who have not signed a market contract or switched retailers since 2001. As market contracts offer incentives to consumers to switch retailers, standing offer tariffs are usually higher than tariffs on market contracts.

You can find the maximum tariff that your caravan park owner can charge you here. If the owner of the caravan park where you are living is charging you above this maximum, you should tell the owner they are breaching the regulations and ask them to charge you the correct tariff. If the owner does not respond to your request, you can write to the Essential Services Commission including all documents that will show the owner is not complying with the regulations.
