Section 1861(a) of the Transport (Compliance and Miscellaneous Act) 1983 provides for the Minister for Transport to refer to the Commission an investigation into any matter in relation to hire car licence fees and special purpose vehicle licences. The Commission's role is to review and provide independent advice to the Minister on what these licence fees should be.
