Licensing

The Electricity Industry Act 2000 and the Gas Industry Act 2001 require all electricity and gas generators, distributors and retailers operating in Victoria to be licensed by the Essential Services Commission, or be exempted under an Order in Council.  Licences issued by the Commission are listed here, along with certificates of opinion from the Commission about electricity networks claiming exemption.  On 1 July 2011, the Commission ceased issuing such certificates of opinion.
